Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves developing individualized education plans (IEPs), implementing effective teaching strategies, and collaborating with parents and other professionals to ensure the success of each student.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Create engaging lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
- Utilize effective behavior management techniques to promote positive behavior in the classroom.
- Collaborate with parents, support staff, and other educators to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
- Provide support for students with autism and other behavioral health challenges, ensuring their emotional and social development.
- Maintain a structured classroom environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and cooperation among students.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress in academic and social skills.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in special education.
Qualifications
- Special Education Certification is preferred, a statement of eligibility in Special Education will also be accepted.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with children in daycare or educational settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom management techniques.
- Familiarity with behavioral health practices, particularly for students on the autism spectrum.
- Previous experience in private school settings is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating independence in managing classroom responsibilities.
